About the studio
A studio built around one stubborn belief.
That a wedding should look like the people it belongs to, and nobody else. Velvet Vows has designed and produced celebrations since 2012, from sixty guests in a Jaipur courtyard to six hundred on a Delhi lawn.
Founder's story
Ishani Raghav started Velvet Vows after her own wedding.
She had trained in textile design in Ahmedabad and spent nine years producing corporate events and fashion weeks, which is an unromantic apprenticeship for a romantic profession — and precisely the right one.
Her own wedding, in her grandmother's Jaipur home, was planned in eleven weeks with a florist she had known since childhood. It looked like nothing else that season, and three guests asked her to plan theirs. Velvet Vows began there, in 2012, and has stayed deliberately small since.
Today Ishani leads concept and design on every wedding the studio accepts, and still writes the first design document herself.

Planning philosophy
Four principles we do not negotiate on.
Design before decoration
We write a design document before we book a single flower. Palette, materials and references first; suppliers second.
Fewer weddings, deeper work
We take a limited number of celebrations each season so a senior planner is genuinely present, not managing from a spreadsheet.
Honest counsel on money
We will tell you which line items guests feel and which quietly disappear. Sometimes the advice is to spend less.
Hospitality as the point
The measure of a wedding is how looked-after the ninety-year-old aunt felt at eleven at night. Everything else is set dressing.
